Getting a Library Card
- What are the requirements for obtaining a library card? Photo identification verifying name is required. Identification of current address is also required, plus proof of address if it is not included on the identification card.
- Can I apply for a library card online? The library does not currently offer an online library card application. Please visit any of our libraries and show the proper identification listed above to obtain a library card.
- How much does a library card cost? Your first library card is free. A $3.00 replacement fee is required to replace lost, damaged or stolen cards.
- Do I need my library card to check out materials? You must present your library card or a picture ID to checkout library materials.
- Will I be notified when I have overdue materials? Yes. Once an item becomes overdue, you may receive an email if we have an address for you on file. Please keep your library checkout receipt in order to track due dates and avoid overdues.
- What forms of payment do you accept? We accept cash payments for all amounts, or cheques.
- Do I need my library card to access the public computers? You need your library card and PIN numbers to use the computers. Your library account must also be in good standing (no excessive fines or lost items). Patrons without a library account can present a valid form of photo ID to use a computer.
- What applications and inputs are available on the public computers? The library's computers offer Internet browsing, Microsoft Office applications, headphone input for sound, and USB (flash drive) input.
- Does the library offer free WiFi? Yes. The library provides a free wireless connection to public WiFi for mobile devices.
- Because of Covid-19 the library isn't currently taking donated items at this time.
Library CardsWith a SILS (Saskatchewan Integrated Library System) Library Card you will have the ability to check out library books from over 300 public libraries throughout the province.
How to Get a Library Card Getting a library card is simple and free For those over the age of 14, you will need two pieces of ID, including proof of address. Those under 14 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian when registering and the parent must have ID for the child and themselves. **Replacement cards are $3.00 |
Loan Periods & Renewals
We know it may be harder to return materials due to COVID restrictions, so for now most items now have a 28 day loan period.

**Most items can be renewed up to two times, unless someone else places a hold on that item. Your items can be renewed at the library, over the phone, or online at www.southeast.lib.sk.ca. Magazines and high demand items cannot be renewed.
Fines
- Southeast Regional Library is no longer charging overdue fees.
- Any items overdue for a period of 31 days will be deemed missing and the replacement cost of the item will be charged to your account. You will receive a billing notice at this time. Please ensure your information is updated in our system so that we are able to send you overdue notification messages.
- If the item is returned in good condition within 6 months, the replacement cost of the item will be removed from your account.
- After 6 months, you will be expected to pay the replacement cost as we will have paid to replace the item in our system. The item then becomes your property.
- If an item is returned “damaged” you will be charged the replacement cost of the item, so long as it reported within 31 days and the item then becomes your property. After 31 days, a processing fee will also be charged.

The library provides fast Wi-Fi service. Just select the Wi-F- settings from your device or laptop and select Library Guest. A login screen will appear asking if you agree with the Terms and Conditions. Select Agree and you will be connected to the library's Wi-Fi - no need for a username or password.
